Happenings - 2010
We've
grouped several happenings on this page for the month of
January. First, on January 14, Father Taylor was honored
at the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Indiana Holiday
Commission statewide celebration. Along with a panel of
distinguished honorees, Father Taylor recived a recognition
from Governor Mitch Daniels and other dignitaries. Local
choirs provided music. Governor Daniels, James Young - first
African American Mayor of Philadelphia, Mississippi, Clayton
Graham, Esq., Chair of the Holiday Commission, and Tony
Kirkland, Executive Director of the Indiana Civil Rights
Commission were among the speakers. Holy Angels was well
represented in the assembly.
On
the Sunday of the King Holiday weekend, our annual collection
of non-perishable foods was held to provide relief through
the St. Vincent De Paul food pantry.
At
about the same time, Sister Christine Nantaba returned from
Uganda where she celebrated 25 years as a nun with her home
community.
