Martin Luther King Celebration 2008

Each year Holy Angels tries to mark the national holiday celebrating the birth of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Junior in a special way. In 2008 the Church family marked the occasion with a collection of canned and dry foods to be contributed to the food pantry at Holy Trinity, for distribution to needy persons in our community. In commenting on the collection, Father Kenneth Taylor observed that while this day of service in commemoration might seem like a small gesture, it was in fact an important symbol of a greater, underlying reality. Rev. Dr. King's image was prominent in the church on this day. As in life, Dr King's presence near the pulpit might also be seen as symbolic, as he was always a voice for human service and dignity.
