CHRISTMAS, 2003-2004

Midnight Mass
Feast of the Holy Family
Epiphany

Christmas Midnight Mass.
Father Chester Smith, filling in for our pastor Fr. Clarence Waldon, elevates the infant during the singing of our traditional "I AM!"

With the singing of the "Gloria", the lights of the nativity, Christmas trees, and the church are illuminated, commemorating the birth of Christ.

Father Smith delivers a stirring homily on the feast of Christmas and the season of celebration at hand.

The consecration: Christ with us.

A view of our Afrocentric nativity scene, with shepherds and their flock.

The advent wreath has been transformed with poinsettias, a central white candle, and the centerpiece - an infant figure representing the newborn Christ child.

The Feast of the Holy Family. The sunlight of a winter's morning illuminates the altar bedecked with poinsettias, Advent/Christmas wreath, illuminated Christmas trees, advent offering tree, and the changing nativity scene.

Epiphany! The final Sunday in this Christmas Season ~ the wise men have arrived in our Nativity scene and the birth of Christ is proclaimed to the rest of the world.

A last look at the trappings of this Christmas season, and the beginnings of another telling of the story of salvation through the church year in 2004.
