Garden of the Angels

At the end of the 2004-2005 school year, our school children embarked on an exciting adventure in experiential learning. Our students planned and planted their own vegetable and flower garden. The plot occupies an area alongside the parking and play area on the south side of the building. At this writing (late June), the garden was flourishing despite the hot weather. The Garden of the Angels enjoys excellent sunlight and includes a watering system, paths, floral borders and accents, and a variety of vegetables. The plan is that returning and otherwise visiting students will be able to experience the "fruits" of their stewarship of a little part of God's beautiful creation. Harambee!

Viewed from the southeast, the garden occupies a long expanse of former grass border between school and play area.

Marigold borders, stepping stones designed by the students, water conserving mulch, dahlias, and sunflowers make the garden an inviting retreat.

A closer view of one of the flower beds and stepping stones.

One of the garden paths meanders among cabbages, tomatoes, turnips, and other vegetables, and past a pyramid of pole beans.
