Choir Director
Mr. Vincent Howard
For a third of a century, Holy Angels Gospel Choir has been making a joyful noise at the corner of 28th and Dr. Martin Luther King Streets. The choir has ministered through a wide repertoire of traditional Catholic worship music, gospel, spirituals, African-inspired songs, and other sacred music. The choir frequently employs four part harmony, which sets its musical interpretations apart from many of its fellow ministries in gospel music-rich Indianapolis.
The choir currently has approximately 30 members. With contributions from choir members and the generosity of our congregation, a new sound system and instrumentation enhance our ministry. While the choir still sometimes sings a cappella, most services include keyboard, standard and African drums, and occasional horn accompaniment. The choir ministers at both the 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. masses on Sunday mornings, as well as on major Holy Days such as Christmas midnight mass, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Easter.

The choir has traveled around central and southern Indiana, and has ministered as far away as Atlanta, Georgia. Among some of its special ministries, the choir has sung for a national NAACP convention, a national Catholic youth assembly, the IUPUI Gospel Music Fiesta, a regional gathering of Catholic music liturgists, the 100th Anniversary Celebration of the Sisters of Providence at St. Mary of the Woods College, Multicultural Ministries of the Indianapolis Archdiocese, the 175th Anniversary Jubilee of the Indianapolis Archdiocese, and a number of programs for the Martin Luther King holiday and Black History Month.
Membership is open - commitment is required. Rehearsals are from 7-9 pm on Tuesday evenings in the church. Contact the Parish Office or any choir member. Please direct inquiries to the parish office at 926-3324 or holyangelsbulletin@hotmail.com.
