Disciples in Mission (DIM)

Note: Dates in the following material refer to the initial year, 2002. Follow up activities have continued in succeeding years. Small Group activities continue to attract parishioners for spiritual sharing and DIM has contributed to long range parish planning.

Goal I: The call to holiness. To bring about in all Catholics such an enthusiasm for their faith that they freely share it with others.

Goal II: The call to welcome and invite. To invite all people in the U.S, whatever their social or economic background, to hear the message of salvation in Jesus Christ so they may join us in the Catholic Faith.

Goal III: The call to transform the world in Christ. To foster gospel values in our society, promoting the dignity of the human person, the importance of family, and the common good of our society, so that the nation may continue to be transformed by the saving power of Jesus Christ.

During this year's Disciples in Mission journey, we have focused on the theme, "Standing in the Need of Prayer - Change Me Lord". This theme reminds us of our need and desire for God's hand in our lives, that He may change us into the disciples He has called us to be. We have recognized during our 2002 Prayer Campaign that we cannot change ourselves. It is only throught the grace, mercy, forgiveness, and love of our Savior Jesus that we become disciples who are ready to serve.

We have seen the power of God during our Lenten journey - He has changed us and continually changes us. Now it is our chance to turn our prayer into action. The Parish Reflection Day on April 20, 2002, will be a time for all of us at Holy Angels to decide on the "things" that we are going to do in response to God's call. How are we at Holy Angels going to preach the Gospel of our Lord and make disciples of all we meet? Please join your Parish family on April 20th, from 9:00 a.m. to Noon, to answer this important question and enter the next phase of Disciples in Mission.

Everyone is encouraged to attend. The facilitators will be the group leaders of the DIM Small Groups. We will discuss the goals and objectives of DIM and how we at Holy angels can continue and plan to do programs and activities that will help us go forth and make disciples of Christ has called us to do as his people.
