In the
fall of 2005, before Father Kenneth Taylor's appointment as
Pastor of Holy Angels, parish leaders met with several visiting
priests from Nigeria to discuss the possible naming of Father
Uzoma Epenesius Uwakwe as a long term sacramental minister for
our parish. When Father Taylor's appointment was announced,
the issue of a sacramental minister became moot. But there still
remained several weeks of the Christmas season 2005-2006 before
Father Taylor could assume the position of pastor on January
4, 2006. We were delighted that Father Uzoma was named to assist
during this transition period. Father Uzoma is from Nigeria
and has recently spent several years in Rome, Italy.
He quickly
demonstrated that he is a warm and engaging presence and a very
moving preacher. We hope that all of our parishioners and visitors
alike enthusiastically welcomed and embraced Father Uzoma while
he has been with us. Photos below are of Father Uzoma's first
