St. Mary of the Woods - Sisters of Providence
Church of the Immaculate Conception ~ 100th Anniversary

        Nearly a year before the event, our beloved Sister Mary Quinn, put wheels in motion to invite Holy Angels Gospel Choir to be a part of a major celebration of the Sisters of Providence and St. Mary of the Woods College near Terre Haute, Indiana. As part of a year long celebration, the order of nuns and the college held a "Family Day" celebration commemorating the 100th anniversary of the dedication of the beautiful Church of the Immaculate conception. The event included singing ministries by a number of Terre Haute church choirs as well as Holy Angels Choir. Also on the day's agenda were campus tours, refreshments, bell ringing concerts, and more.
        The choir traveled by bus along with several parishioners after the Sunday morning masses to arrive in time to refresh, tour a bit, enjoy one of the other choirs on program before presenting a dynamic program of music at 4:30 in the afternoon. The audience in the beautiful church was enthusiastic and appreciative, giving a very warm round of applause after our ministry. The choir gathered itself after visiting with Sister Mary Quinn and made haste to return to Indianapolis in front of an ominous line of thunderstorms. (Choir photos courtesy Viola Squires)
