For nearly 30 years, Sister Mary Quinn has both built up and grown from the community of believers at Holy Angels, an African-American parish in Indianapolis.
"There is a tradition in Africa, 'I am because we are.' So it's like, because you relate to other people, that's how you become who you are," Sister Mary said. And a lot of relating goes on in this parish, from supporting each other as a community, to service outreach, to lively two-hour worship services. Sister Mary empowers others to take the lead. "That is my delight: to see people catch on to the fact that they are the Church and that they can make a difference. I'm being blessed being here; I'm being fed and nourished and growing spiritually," she said.
