Name of Ministry:   Support Ministries

 

Committees:  

·        Maintenance

·        Church Office

·        Stewardship

 

Description of Ministry:   

·        This collection of committees works to assist in the daily/weekly operation of the parish. 

·        The responsibilities include

o       Upkeep of property and grounds with an emphasis on preventive maintenance

o       Communication of all parish information

o       Management of financial matters

o       Phone calls to improve event participation

o       Weekly counting and depositing of Sunday contributions

o       Educating parishioners about the Diocese Stewardship Campaign

 

Actions to Accomplish Ministry:  

·        Maintenance: 

o       monthly meetings

o       regular tours of property

o       recruit helpers for fix-up/clean-up days

·        Church Office: 

o       Secretary, along with Pastor, and Associate, attends weekly staff meetings.

o       Attend monthly Parish Council meetings.

·        Finance: 

o       Analyze parish monthly statements.

o       Review and reconcile monthly or quarterly bank statements.

o       Review parish ministries’ budgets.

o       Make financial recommendations to parish when appropriate.

·        Calling:      

o       Provide callers with event information to share and list of Parishioners to contact.

o       Calls are made within a specified time period.

o       Callers report back to coordinators or chairpersons of the event.

o       Reports are shared with parish office.

·        Counters: 

o       6 teams of counters are recruited

o       New recruits receive on-the-job training.

o       3 masses’ collections are counted

o       Mail-ins are processed.

o       Contributions are taken to bank for deposit.

·        Stewardship: 

o       Educate parishioners.

o       Recruit witnesses.

o       Carry out Stewardship Campaign.

o       Follow-up with non-participants.

o       Thank parishioners for participation.


Number of Participants Needed: 

·        Maintenance:  5 board members, 10-15 workers

·        Church Office:  3 staff members, 2-3 volunteers per week

·        Finance:  3-7 committee members

·        Calling: 10-15 callers

·        Counters:  18 counters

·        Stewardship:  5-6 committee members

 

Talents Needed:

·        Maintenance:  understanding of maintenance and the ability to work with others

·        Church Office:  “people skills”

·        Finance: 

o       Accounting/financial background

o       “People skills”

o       Understanding of parish ministries

o       Some computer skills

·        Calling: 

o       Friendly and patient personality

o       Appreciation of parish activities

·        Counters: 

o       Ability to count money

o       Record keeping skills

·        Stewardship: 

o       Organizational and writing skills

o       People skills

 

Time Commitment:

·        Maintenance:  1x per month for 8 months, 3 hours on second Saturdays

·        Church Office:  Secretary- Monday-Friday

·        Volunteers- any time accepted

·        Finance:  3rd Wed. of each month (6:00 PM) 2 year commitment

·        Calling:  1-2 hours per month

·        Counters:  3 hours - 8-9 Sundays per year

·        Stewardship:  approximately 2 hours per month

 

Financial Support:

·        Maintenance:  04-05 parish budget-$1500

·        Church Office:  secretary salary/parish budget

·        Finance:  06 parish budget-$50

·        Calling:  none needed

·        Counters:  none needed

·        Stewardship:  none needed

 

Vision:

·        Maintenance:  recruit more workers, and schedule more work days

·        Church Office: network with other agencies and hire parish coordinator.

·        Finance: 

o       Get to know parish ministries.

o       Educate ministries and parishioners about the role of the Finance Committee.

o       Work closely with parish bookkeeper.

o       Implement a written process for ministries to follow.     

·        Calling:  Increase use of calling committee to get more parishioners involved in parish activities.

·        Counters: 

o       Upgrade training of counters.

o       Recruit more counters.

·        Stewardship:

o       Improve follow-up contacts.

o       Add monthly meetings to plan campaign.

o       Add PR concerning how Holy Angels is helped by the Archdiocese.
