Description of Ministry:

The Social Concerns Ministry is focused on community outreach. This ministry informs and involves the parish community in service to one another and to the community.

Actions to Accomplish Ministry:

· Christmas Basket Distribution:  Distribute food baskets to approximately 300-350 families each December

· Crop Walk:   Obtain sponsors and walk annually

· Habitat for Humanity:  Provide and serve food to the builders

· Prison Ministry:
Pray for and visit prison inmates 1x per month

· St. Vincent De Paul:
Assist with phone calls and warehouse distribution

· 10 Point Coalition Neighborhood Patrol:
Patrol neighborhood

· School Mentoring Program:

· Operation Freedom:
Provide Adult Education, Computer classes, and Tax Preparation

Number of Participants Needed:

5-10 participants, including a chairperson, for each committee

Talents Needed:

· Organizational skills

· Leadership skills

· Interest in serving others in need

· Interest in community concerns

Time Commitment:

Varies with committee (see actions p 11)

Financial Support:

· Computer Class:  $750

· Christmas Basket:  $3550

· Habitat for Humanity:  $550

· Tax Preparation:  $50

Improve Christmas Basket Pick-Up
