A series of prescribed prayers then follows. After the "Holy Holy Holy" is said or sung, the priest commences one of the several forms of Eucharistic prayer. At the prescribed time, the priest follows the model of Christ and consecrates the bread and wine. He uses the words "This is My Body" and "This is My Blood". We believe that while these gifts remain in the physical form of bread and wine, they are truly transformed into Christ's body and Blood. After each pronouncement, the priest holds up the bread (left) and the cup (right) for the adoration of the faithful. The Eucharistic prayer continues with several intentions asking God's favor for the living and the dead.
