Feast
of the Holy Family
Epiphany
|
In
the Catholic Church, the season of Christmas begins with Christmas
Eve and Christmas Day celebrations. In the current liturgical
norms, the Christmas Season continues for several Sundays to include
the major feasts of the Holy Family, Solemnity of Mary, the Epiphany,
and the Baptism of Jesus among other significant holy days. On
this page we offer photos of the Feast of the Holy Family and
the Epiphany.
On the Feast of the
Holy Family, we were treated to a youth mass wherein young people
from the parish performed the roles of several of the lay ministers
including commentator, readers, servers, and assisting with the
offering. A violin duet by Alessandra Ennet and Gretchen Horne
opened the liturgy followed by a superb ministry from a choir
of Holy Angels women.
The Epiphany celebrated Jesus
being revealed to "the world" via the visit of the wise
men (Magi). The use of incense marked this special day as similar
in importance to Christmas. The statues of the Magi were placed
in the nativity scene, and Father Taylor's homily spoke creatively
of the many stars we might follow in our own lives.
