Christmas
2006-2007
This
year saw our first complete Christmas season with our Pastor,
Father Kenneth Taylor. While many old traditions remained, including
caroling and the dramatic contrast of light and darkness at the
midnight mass, new traditions emerged as well. The blessing of
the nativity scene at the midnight mass, and the use of incense
on Christmas and the Epiphany, and visiting concelebrating priests
including Father Eusebius Mbidoaka (pictured) made for an especially
inspiring season. While the secular world eliminated most signs
of the season shortly after Christmas, the symbols and celebrations
of the season continued within Holy Angels through the Solemnity
of Mary, the Feast of the Holy Family, and the Epiphany completing
the 12 Days of Christmas. A sea of poinsettias, courtesy of two
generous benefactors, combined with fresh evergreens and festive
cloths and garments, made for a most holy and memorable time.
Let us carry that spirit with us throughout the coming year.
