Holy Spirit Novena

        With the arrival of Pentecost, the Catholic Church recalls the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and officially marks the end of the Easter Season. In 2009, in the week preceding Pentecost, Holy Angels conducted a special Holy Spirit Novena - actually 9 days of prayer, with 3 nights celebrated in the church. On each of those three evenings there was some special, liturgical activity, such as devotional music by the choir or a litany, along with viewing the video series "Enduring Faith". This instructive and inspirational video, produced by the Diocese of Buffalo and narrated by actor Andre Braugher, provided a moving account of Black Catholics in the US.
        Then on Pentecost Sunday, May 31, the great feast was celebrated at our Sunday masses - accented with the use of incense and a special homily on Father Taylor's vision for our parish.
