Each year, Holy Angels recognizes the national holiday in memory of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. On the preceding Friday, weather permitting, our school children march along the street bearing his name (not pictured). At Sunday liturgies appropriate music and other elements of the worship are themed to the spirit of the day. We'd like to think Dr. King would have been especially pleased that on the Sunday honoring him in 2009, several youths were baptized into the faith at Holy Angels. Photos of the sacrament are shown below. Also in his memory, food was collected at the masses to be shared through a neighborhood food pantry with those less fortunate.
