Lent
2009
Lent
in the Catholic Church is traditionally a time of subdued mood
in liturgy, penance, and "getting right" with God. But
at Holy Angels it is also a busy time in a good way. We have many
activities around the Lenten season which enhance our observance
of the holy season and which invigorate parish life in positive
ways.
On this page we share
images from the start of the 2009 Lenten season, with the observance
of Ash Wednesday. The evening liturgy depicted here has become
quite elaborate with the actual burning of last year's palms to
make ashes for marking the foreheads of the faithful. Mass and
communion are of course the centerpiece of the worship which drew
a sizable congregation.
Photos are below. Above
are links to pages reporting on our annual, Lenten fish fry and
our small group faith sharing.
Not pictured here are
the weekly Friday evening masses with the way of the cross which
also drew a good number of faithful participants.
