| Holy
Week is the most important week of our church year. In 2007,
the alternatively solemn and joyous observances began on a
crisp, sunlit morning with the commemoration of Palm Sunday.
At the 9:00 and 11:00 am services, parishioners gathered on
the church lot in front of Holy Angels School for scripture
readings, blessing of psalms, and a brief message from Father
Taylor. At the early service the congregation processed across
the lot and into the church. At the later mass a near-capacity
group of worshippers processed around the adjacent neighborhood
before moving up the main aisle of the church and filing into
the pews. Worshipers sang "I will magnify the Lord, for
He is worthy to be praised! Hosanna! Blessed be the Rock!
Blessed be the Rock of my salvation!!" In both services
the pastor and readers recited the Passion of Christ, remembering
the last day before the crucifixion and death of our Lord
and Savior. Then Father Taylor gave a special homily about
getting in touch with who we are and what it means to be Catholic
during the week of commemoration of our salvation. |
