Easter
Sunday morning brought the continuation of the celebration
of the resurrection of our Savior. Many of the rituals are
similar to the Easter Vigil/Holy Saturday service of the
night before. The Pascal Candle was again brought into the
Church, the Exsultet (Easter Proclamation), Alleluias, and
Glory to God were repeated. Daryl Whitley also sang the
joyous "Oh Sons and Daughters" to heighten the
joy of the day. The choir has returned from the increasingly
somber sounds of lent and holy week to songs of rejoicing.
Baptismal vows were renewed and the congregation sprinkled
with holy water from the baptismal font. Lenten almsgiving
cards were deposited by parishioners in a basket before
the Easter Candle. As in the services on Holy Saturday,
the Church is restored to the full Eucharistic celebration
of the mass. Jesus is risen. Death is conquered Alleluia.
Photos are
of the 9:00 am service. Infant baptism was part of the 11:00
am service and photographs may be added if available at
a later date.
