Christmas
2008
The
feast of the Epiphany is much celebrated in some cultures and
is always an integral part of our Christmas celebration at Holy
Angels. Under Father Taylor the feast has taken on increased emphasis
and is observed in a manner similar to Christmas Day. Significant
as the commemoration of Christ's being revealed to the larger
world (via the visiting Wise Men or Magi), our celbration incorporates
symbols appropriate to the continuing Christmas season. Incense
is used during the feast, the Christmas trees and nativity are
prominent - now with the addition of the figurines of the Magi,
spirited music from the choir, and of course the scriptural telling
of the ongoing Christmas story. And although Easter is some months
away, a symbolic resurrection of sorts took place with the reappearance
of the beloved great organ to complement the other musical instruments.
Truly a fitting last Sunday of the Christmas liturgies.
